NiceLabel Developer Series - Enabling Custom Applications
NiceLabel Developers Series is a line of products that provides tools to combine bar code and RFID label design and printing with thermal printer support for 3rd party software applications. The ability to print would seem a very simple process; however, when you look at the vast amount of possible printers combined with the ability to create a wide range of label template types, printing can be just as complex as the application design itself. The SDK (Software Developer Kit) products available in the NiceLabel Developer Series simplifies this for the application developer.
The primary benefit of selling the NiceLabel Developer Series products is that they fit into a very specific type of customer base. Typical Developer Series customers have the following characteristics:
- Have developed or require a custom business application
- Require simple integration of embedded barcode label printing
- Require ability to easily design label templates
- Require an easy way to deploy both application and printing in one simple deployment
The Developer Series products provide a toolset that enables embedded label printing into Windows desktop, enterprise, web and mobile environments. Below are the different SDK options currently offered and a brief description of them.
NiceLabel SDK – Embedded label printing engine for desktop applications. The NiceLabel SDK is built to enable easy integration and silent deployment with custom applications.
NiceLabel WebSDK – Used to create Web-based labeling applications. Typically, in most web-based applications, there has to be a central server (web server) to process the label print requests. This centralized print server would have a number of different printers installed and the client could ONLY print to the printers loaded on the server. The WebSDK removes the centralized printing and moves it to the client's PC, allowing the client to print locally to the printer drivers or printers loaded on their client PC.
NiceLabel PocketSDK – Used to create applications for mobile devices. Using the PocketSDK with a 3rd party application allows you to take advantage of the resources on the mobile device (such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity) for mobile printing. Pocket SDK applications can be configured to print to both mobile printers as well as tabletop printers.
The NiceLabel Developer Series components include the deployment files, developer license, and documentation. Also, when the Developer Series is purchased, a copy of NiceLabel Professional is included to create the label designs that will be distributed with the 3rd party application.
There are currently two licensing models available:
- Unit based licensing – each NiceLabel Engine is activated with a 25 digit activation number.
- Unlimited licensing model – the developer can purchase annual distribution rights, no client activation is needed.
The NiceLabel Developer Series addresses development needs for label printing from desktop, server, mobile or Web-based software application.
